Pac-man's game screen

Pac-man was the name of a popular arcade game created by Namco in the 1980's. Originally called "Puck-man" in Japan the game went overseas in 1980. It sold over 100,000 units in its first year. The Pac-man character was colored yellow and pie-shape in form. The game's objective was to collect all of the dots on the game's screen.


  • In May 5th, 2010 Google celebrated Pac-Man's 30th anniversary by posting a playlable doodle which screen featured a labyrynth forming the "Google" logo.


  • Pac-Man's signature shape was originally inspired in a pizza without two slices.
  • Namco's original idea was to sell the game in the United States as "Puck-Man", but it was finally decided to keep it due to it's obscene sounding.
